Captain Tim B.
USCG Master 25-Ton Licensed
Captain Tim Blanchard is a USCG-Licensed captain, native Washingtonian, and founder of FishThePotomac, a company redefining what it means to experience DC’s waterfront. With an ever-growing fleet that now includes Geronimo (a Grady White 330 Express), Betty (a Boston Whaler 230 Dauntless), and King Louie (a Parker 2320 SL with a heated pilot house), Captain Tim offers everything from luxury sightseeing cruises to world-class fishing charters for anglers of all levels.
With extensive research into hidden bottom structures and the seasonal habits of the diverse species that inhabit the Potomac, Tim has developed a finely tuned sense of where to find the best catches year-round. Beyond fishing, he has become deeply immersed in the fascinating history of DC’s once-thriving waterway — a river now in the midst of a powerful ecological resurgence.
Captain Tim’s passion for the Potomac extends beyond his charters. He is also the founder of the Kids Fishing Club Summer Camp, an immersive, hands-on program that teaches kids ages 9–14 the fundamentals of fishing, boating safety, and environmental stewardship. Under the guidance of the FishThePotomac staff, the camp has grown into one of the region’s most unique youth outdoor experiences.
Capt. Tim was also featured in FishTalk Magazine’s “Ask an Expert” column, — though he’s quick to admit he’s hardly an expert, just a guy who spends an unhealthy amount of time on the river. In the piece, he shared insights on fishing the Potomac and the revival of Washington’s urban fishery, highlighting his commitment to conservation, education, and storytelling from the helm.
Whether you’re reeling in trophy blue catfish, exploring the city’s landmarks from the water, or watching your child catch their first fish at summer camp, Captain Tim ensures every trip with FishThePotomac is both unforgettable and inspiring.
Captain Seth
Captain Seth is a USCG 100-Ton Offshore Master and lifelong angler who grew up in the salt and sun of Southern California. From a young age, he could be found on the water — fishing piers, jetties, and offshore runs long before he was old enough to drive himself there. Over the years, he’s built a career chasing some of the biggest fish on the planet, from pelagics off the Pacific coast to massive catfish and stripers here on the Potomac.
Despite his impressive offshore resume, Seth will be the first to tell you that his real love affair is with the largemouth bass — the “adorable little bucketmouths,” as he calls them. His off days are often spent quietly on local lakes aboard his bass boat, meticulously fine-tuning his gear and savoring the simple joy of a topwater strike at sunrise.
Now part of the FishThePotomac crew, Captain Seth brings a wealth of experience, professionalism, and genuine enthusiasm to every charter. Whether guiding guests to their first blue catfish, swapping fishing stories, or coaching young anglers during the Kids Fishing Club Summer Camp, Seth’s calm confidence and sharp instincts make him a natural teacher and a favorite among guests.
Known for his easygoing personality and dry humor, he embodies the perfect balance of serious angler and approachable guide — the kind of captain who can help you catch the fish of a lifetime while keeping the day light, fun, and unforgettable. For Seth, it’s never just about the catch; it’s about the stories, the laughter, and the shared love of time spent on the water.
