Kids Fishing Club
Washington DC’s premier fishing charter, FishThePotomac, is proud to once again offer the highly anticipated
Kids Fishing Club Summer Camp is an unforgettable, on-the-water adventure for kids ages 9–14, set against the iconic backdrops of the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers.
This week-long day camp is designed for young anglers who learn best by doing. Campers spend the majority of their days outside and on the water, building real skills in fishing techniques, boating safety, and conservation under the guidance of a professional, experienced crew.
After an incredible first season, we listened closely to our campers and families—and the message was clear: they wanted more fishing. This summer, we’re delivering exactly that, with even more time on the water, more hands-on instruction, and more opportunities to cast, catch, and learn every single day.
Led by USCG-Licensed Captain Tim Blanchard and supported by a carefully selected crew, we prioritize safety, inclusivity, and enjoyment. With space limited to just 12 campers per session, each camper receives personalized attention and the opportunity to build friendships while exploring the wonders of the Anacostia & Potomac.
Space is limited to 12 kids per session, so reserve your spot soon! Camp runs for five weekly sessions starting June 30. Don’t let your young angler miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience!
Meet the FishThePotomac Dream Team!
Think of our staff as your kid’s personal squad of river adventurers—cheerful, curious, and bursting with energy! Leading the way are Captain Tim and Captain Seth, our dynamic duo of fun-loving, USCG-licensed captains who know how to turn every day on the water into an unforgettable experience. Captain Tim brings a deep love of the outdoors, a head full of fascinating DC river history, and a gift for inspiring young anglers to connect with the water. Captain Seth adds his own brand of enthusiasm, patience, and on-the-water expertise—always ready to coach, encourage, and celebrate every cast and catch.
Backing them up is a crew handpicked for their big smiles, bigger laughs, and endless patience. They’ve all passed the “fun test” with flying colors and know their way around a hook, a paddle, and a tall fish tale. These pros aren’t just friendly—they’re also Red Cross–certified in first aid and CPR, so safety is always front and center. Whether they’re dialing in casting techniques, pointing out wildlife, or cheering on a first fish, they turn the Potomac and Anacostia into a true learning playground.
In short, your child gets front-row access to one of the most supportive, enthusiastic, and downright awesome crews on the river.
A Typical Day at Kids Fishing Club Camp
At Kids Fishing Club Camp, every day is built around time on the water—and lots of it. Campers arrive at 9:00 AM at the dock with excitement in the air, where they’re welcomed by Captain Tim, Captain Seth, and the crew. The day kicks off with a quick safety briefing, weather check, and game plan for the day ahead before heading straight into the action.

Mornings are spent on the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers, fishing from our boats—Geronimo, Betty, and King Louie—and building real-world skills like casting, knot tying, boat handling, and on-the-water awareness. This is hands-on learning at its best, with captains and mates coaching campers one-on-one and celebrating every bite, catch, and breakthrough.
Mid-morning, campers take a quick snack break on the water to recharge, take in the views, and swap fish stories with new friends. Around 12:00 PM, we return to the dock for a lunch break, giving campers time to relax, refuel, cool off, and enjoy some downtime with their group before heading back out.
After lunch, campers are split into two small groups of six, rotating boats and activities to keep the afternoon fresh and engaging. The focus stays on even more fishing and skill-building, reinforcing techniques learned earlier in the day and adapting to changing conditions.
The day wraps up around 3:00 PM with a safety recap, docking the boats, cleaning up gear, and sharing highlights from the day—plus a preview of what’s coming next.
In short: more fishing, more time on the water, and more confidence built every single day.
Every day is a mix of learning, exploring, and fun, leaving campers excited to come back for more! 🌊
