🎣 KIDS FISHING CLUB SATURDAY SESSIONS – SPRING (AGES 12–16)
Youth Fishing Lessons on the Potomac River | Washington DC

Kids Fishing Club Saturday Sessions is our weekly, on-the-water fishing program designed for teens who want to learn how to fish the Potomac River in Washington, DC while building real angling skills and confidence.

After the incredible success of our Kids Fishing Club Summer Camp, many families asked if there was a way for kids to keep fishing during the rest of the year. Saturday Sessions are the answer.

Based at The Yards Marina in Washington, DC, this program gives young anglers ages 12–16 the opportunity to learn from professional fishing guides while exploring one of the most historic urban fisheries in the country.

Spring is one of the most exciting times to fish the Potomac River, including the famous American shad run, when thousands of fish migrate upriver and the fishing action really heats up.

Participants will fish aboard our 23’ Parker 2320 pilot house boat β€œKing Louie”, a safe and comfortable vessel designed specifically for fishing on the Potomac.

As always, we are closely monitoring Potomac River water quality and bacteria levels following the Interceptor incident. We remain in communication with river monitoring organizations and local authorities and will only operate on-water sessions when conditions are confirmed to be safe. The safety and health of our young anglers is always our highest priority.

βš“ A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY: BUILDING DC’S ONLY TACKLE SHOP

Kids participating in the Spring Saturday Sessions will also get a behind-the-scenes look at something special happening at the marina.

FishThePotomac is currently building DC Tackle Shop β€” the only fishing tackle shop in Washington, DC β€” right at The Yards waterfront.

Throughout the spring program, kids will see first-hand how a real tackle shop comes to life, including:

🎣 How fishing gear is selected and stocked
πŸͺ The difference between rods, reels, and tackle for different fish species
🧰 How bait tanks and fishing equipment are maintained
πŸͺ What it takes to build a fishing community hub from the ground up

For kids who love fishing, this is a rare chance to see the business and culture of fishing from the inside.
